Andrew Shepherd kicked the year off in style, securing victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Bedrock Bar and Stone Grill, Cycling Solutions, 38km handicap event around the Winchmore Church block on Sunday.

Shepherd and his co-markers found the front late in the race and kicked on, ensuring the chasing bunches did not catch them.

Mark Smitheram carried over his good form from the previous year to take fourth place.

Son and father duo of Mark and Paul Summerfield rounded out the top six.

Coming in fresh, Michael Templeton secured fastest time honours riding the course in 49.13.

Fellow scratch markers Steve Hands and Alex Hooper picked up second and third time respectively.

The juniors and division 2 contested an 18km handicap race.
